I have decided that Disc 1 is superior, so that's all I need to hear.

Ahhh, Disc 2 has my favourites, the title tracks. I'll jam that more to maintain the universe's balance.

I love it when artists drop by to get in touch with their fanbase. Thanks for the temporary link, I hope you'll be able to recover your original bandcamp page. As for Hiraeth, it just keeps on growing on me. It ticks all the boxes and I think it's an improvement over your debut on pretty much every level. You should be very proud of yourself and I'm very much looking forward to your next offering.

Can some of you resident Sputink black metal fans point me in the direction of more shit like this? As I said in my sound-off on this, I'm not really a BM guy by any means but this shit just captivated the hell outta me. As a result, I've dove into a ton of bands tagged black metal and folk on here, including Agalloch, Falls of Rauros, Winterfylleth, Panopticon, Wodensthrone, Gallowbraid, and Caladan Brood and none of it seems to scratch that same itch. Found this band Dwarrodelf too, who is also a one man band and has some similar traits to this, but isn't really on the same level. My favorite parts about this are the long, addicting melodic folk parts which seem to contrast the more-seldomly used (when compared to other bands) black metal "wall of sound" perfectly. So I guess I'm looking for more folky bands then, but even then a lot of that stuff doesn't really hit me like this does. I guess what I'm saying is this Null guy really nailed something new for me haha so any recs of similar shit would be much appreciated boys

Well said, Ambush.

I love how most of these tunes tease a blast part during the song and when it finally appears, like in Discovery, it is soooo very satisfying.

For some reason this makes me think of the Wintersun debut a lot. But that's a bit more ferocious.

Thanks for the recs guys, will get on those. Anyone else, feel free to continue chiming in.

@Egarran - I would certainly compare some of the riffing and solos here to the first Wintersun record, there's a touch of that wintry melodeath for sure. But Wintersun-Jari still has yet to create such an enthralling, narrative-building and melodically satisfying record like this IMO. Would love to hear something that's half melodeath (in the vein of Wintersun) and half super melodic folk (in the vein of much of this album) while dropping the BM entirely, but have yet to find it. Probably would be my favorite thing ever lol

Hmmmm

Give Runic - Liar Flags a try. It's folky melodeath from Spain, albeit more reminiscent of early Ensiferum than Wintersun, but it might be up your alley.
