Good review. “Misguided” is correct.

So frustrating because this dude is crazy talented but sometimes he totally blows it.

'If he reformed Porcupine Tree, a lot of people would criticize him for trying to recapture past glories.'

Yeah, no. Literally every Steven Wilson fan wants this to happen.

Eh, debatable Sitar. I’ve seen both sides of the fence on that one... on one hand, yeah, a bunch of people would like to see that happen. On the other hand, I’ve talked to quite a few fans of the solo work - especially the ones who didn’t like the more alternative or metal leanings of PT - who want to see PT fans leave the past where it’s at. So idk, I’ve seen both in all honesty

lol, what do you mean? I still offered my argument

And for the record, I understand what he means. I know a ton of people still want that PT reunion

I've listened to one Porcupine Tree album and one Steven Wilson album... is there any reason to continue exploring this guy's work, or am I good?

@Divergent, I just found it funny that three or so responds from you started with ''eh'', that's all. I was pulling your leg

If PT reformed they should do something new for their catalog. I wouldn't want another PT record that's just the same stuff again

The same as what, though? I guess they've been pretty diverse, even from Fear... to The Incident.

@Pika Raven and Fear of a Blank Planet... I've heard a few assorted Porcupine Tree songs waaaay back when don't know what albums they would have come off of

Porcupine Tree reforming would need to do Porcupine Tree. Anything else would be a disaster.

The Incident was, by Stevens own admission, them repeating themselves. At the end of the day I just want some good music, but Steven said he didn't know how to push PT any further. Like, one of the four guys didn't like Jazz at all and so they couldn't really do that stuff (that's how Grace For Drowning happened). But maybe after all these years they can find something?

Well, a drummer like Gavin Harrison could really help

Apparently Richard was the one who didn’t like jazz. And honestly that doesn’t surprise me... Colin and Gavin have always shown jazz tendencies in their playing, whereas Richard was always more of the soundscapes guy

Id trust a musician who doesn't like jazz about as far as I can throw a boeing 747-8

Trusting a musician would’ve been your first mistake

Yeah, fuck musicians, they all suck

But if we’re talking SW, I think that would have been the... first regret ;)
