Honestly just like try to make it thru this album once and do with it what you want after
The highlights on this are so scattered tbh and I almost like the "meme" songs better than the rest

^^^ what con said, i mean one thing that i will say is that this album is more than entertaining enough to warrant a full listen, especially if you do that and pick your favs from it and make a playlist

seeing people defend this as the best hip hop project in years is like watching a parent tell their kids that santa exists when they start questioning the logistics of it

Great rev Ian, I most probably won't check this, but it was a good read, pos'd

not tryna light the match on this thread, but where the fuck did anybody, let alone con and i, say that because i haven't heard a single soul defend this as “the best hip-hop project in years” lol if you saw someone say that, i advise you to log off twitter

he's probably referencing reddit^^ even then thats still wrong and a weird hill to die on considering lots and lots of fans of mainstream artists hail their favorite pop star's latest album as "the best ever". lots of folks on the carti subreddit are defending this as better than die lit or that wlr is getting too much hate now and will be praised in the future. ive seen very few takes saying it is anything more than better than his previous efforts tbf

Interesting that you mentioned Yeezus, that album was polarizing as well, I remember how much hatred that album got back in the day and even to this day is not as well liked as other Kanye's projects.

Not a fan of the beat selection for the most part, and his voice is extremely irritating

One thing I can applaud is the fact that he's using different types of inflections instead of just doing the Baby Carti voice over and over.

"yeah it seems like oltna has been a long time fan of a lot of artists and genres that it wasn't popular to like until recently"
Has rap always been a genre that people hated on Sputnik? I've never got that impression, maybe less reviewed than Rock or Metal, for sure, but never outright disliked.

honestly i feel like this project has way less baby voice than DL but maybe i'm tripping
also @VlacDrac, not rap/hip-hop as a whole, but trap and specifically this vein of minimalistic/psychedelic trap, has been mixed at best on sputnik besides a few specific users (mostly connor, me, and the aforementioned users like uncle and oltna) that paved the way for artists in this strain of trap to be taken at least somewhat seriously on here. though the results have clearly been mixed at best hahah

fair opinion brandon, i would give it another listen tho because some of the good tracks get missed in the mid songs. there’s def at least 7-12 tracks here worth taking away if you don’t wanna take the time to hear the whole album

What a disappointment. Seriously, we wait a whole year just for this? Christmas equivalent to coal.
