"i feel this. her voice is like nails on a chalkboard"

As long as she's been around, I wish she would just get singing lessons, but she rides on the gimmick I guess.

Singing lessons is kinda like telling someone to get pretty. They can change things about themselves (diet, work out, etc.), but at the end of the day they either have it or they don't. Some people's voices just ain't cut out for this shit.

I...fucking disagree with this so hard; I don't think "looks" and "voices" are analogous in this way at all. Personally I've never had a problem with a singer's voice as long as they're hitting notes properly (sometimes I enjoy it even if they aren't).

Also, her voice takes some getting used to. If you don't want to put in the time, you don't have to, whatever. But I'm amazed that people still write off amazing artists straight away just cuz they don't have fucking American Idol voices. Tom Waits, anyone?

It's not American Idol voices that I'm seeking, it's ones that sound good to my ears. A lot of it is just their natural voice and not something they can change.

Did not expect that to be a controversial take but okay if you insist.

I've accepted how her voice sounds, but there are definitely some instances where I think she could use a bit of formal training. Look at Shiina Ringo for example, who Oomori certainly drew some inspiration from when creating her image and persona. She has one of those unique voices that can take some getting used to. Difference is she has some pipes.

Tbf it was a pretty dumb take ghost

Anyone can improve with singing lessons, people with inherent skill and people without it alike. Singing is a skill. Being pretty is a characteristic.

No, how someone's natural voice sounds is not a skill, it's something you're born with.

Someones natural singing voice is inherent, but singing itself is a skill, you can have a natural inherent predisposition for singing just like you can have natural predisposition for guitar, and just like with guitar, whether you have natural talent or not you can improve with lessons. Dont be a doofus, this isn't even up for debate, its a stupid argument.

Some people just sound annoying, even when they're hitting the notes.
