yeah that's pretty much what i was getting at, the clear contrast somehow works really well/blends together nicely here
that said i don't think you'd like this either pots lol

Didn't like this at all, pretty much a poor The Cure impersonation, which bands like Drab Majesty do a lot better.

Drab majesty is sweet but this ain't bad either. It's got some solid bass lines for sure.

Kinda bothers me that this has the same rating as Choke, this is so much better.

it’s a trend for dudes in hxc bands to start bands that sound like the cure and this band has always kind of been the first band i think of when that gets brought up lol i still haven’t listened to this tho

I think this album is really good but the best new wave style album of the year is from Korine. Hands down.

i finally listened to this and while the album is overall much better than the very first song, i still did not like it or find any reason to listen to it again. it does sound more focused than their other albums but in a way that sounds like u trained an AI to write a collection of mostly new wave songs without any personality

it's pretty unremarkable even by Soft Kill standards. i'd say the band's visual and presentation aesthetic is much stronger than their musicianship.

i honestly liked their recordings from before way more until i saw them live with portrayal of guilt. one of the most boring bands like this i've ever seen IRL tbh portrayal of guilt was great tho

i thought that their macho tough hood hip-hop vibes are noteworthy. the way they market themselves. but the music does not live up to it

ah shame luv! i honestly loved their live show when i caught them with slow crush and many rooms (such an amazing line up), toby had a great stage presence

Album Rating: 2.5
ya for sure it definitely helps them to be successful to the part of their crowd that is ppl that are really into modern hxc culture that also think it's cool to like bands that kinda sound like new order / have that aesthetic but are also hxc dudes that mosh n use words like "crowd killing"
