I dig Axioma, so that's not entirely true. They created such a huge sound, I really bought into the atmosphere and it was stylistically cohesive and consistently satisfying. This one is limp, sparse, rarely gets out of 2nd gear and gives me a completely different vibe. Reminds me of what happened when I first heard RIITIR after Axioma, just with an additional unwanted dose of bizarre and ill-fitting prog-isms.

This album is really pretty and imo better than E, by a wide margin. I like how they experiment, like in the semi-electronic track Urjotun, suuuper cool. The whole thing flows very well. I think the existence or not of growls is a fair argument, although I kinda like the balance/contrast here.

Homebound is a great track off this one, still spin that one quite regularly.

Always really admired Enslaved's musical directions. In my opinion they've not released a bad album since 1998. I'd put them at the absolute pinnacle of Norwegian black metal's matured sound.
