The Britney Spears of noise like this is accessible music in the slightest.

This ain't bad y'know. Literal 'background noise' maybe, for now
It's off-putting listening to any artist where you're encouraged to ctrl+f on their page just to find the damn release tho, so he loses marks for that shit
|
| |
I’ve only listened to about 80 of his releases but going by those alone he’s become one of my favorite artists, there’s an incredible amount of variety and experimentation over his discography. I resent people that say he’s only good for collabs

Hell yeah (though I think some of his best albums are collabs)
|
| |
He has some incredible collabs for sure! Just think people underestimate him cause they hear this or Pulse Demon and go “oh wow that’s noisy” (this and Pulse Demon rule tho) and that’s all they time they give him

to be fair abnormally large discogs are intimidating unless your first experiences are major hits. Especially in those cases where an artist's most heralded works are scattered throughout the timeline and not at all 'universal'
plenty of artists like this where I genuinely do love their music, yet it still took me an absolute age to go through all their material. Some still remain 'outstanding'
|
| |
I understand that and it does take some dedication to go through a discography of this size for the gems. I found this list incredibly helpful tho and while I haven’t agreed with every one of his takes, it definitely made navigating Merzbow’s discography much easier

I feel like this one is a bit underrated. But I can see where it might make for a homogenous listen. I kinda just love how it incessantly and carelessly pulverizes you in the ears.
