Is this really at par with monolith or just fanboy gibberish

There's more deathcore influences on this than I was expecting.

Review talks too much about musicality and mentions nothing about vocal performance.

Somehow never heard of these guys until this release but holy shit, what an album. There have been tons of quality metal albums this year and this is definitely in the top 5 for me just after the first listen.

The album is on my podium, along with Aeternam and Oranssi Pazuzu. Also take a peek at their debut, it's also very good. It's more BDM

It's brutal for sure. Too much of the same-ish minor scale sweeps for my taste. Vox and drums are great. Drummer is using two separate snares or am I hearing that wrong, it got me intrigued.

Awesome record. I remember hearing about this before it came out. I looked at the album cover and band and thought it would be a dud.

Goes to show, never write a band off so quick. m/

Drummer is definitely using two snares. Shit is on point for sure.

Interesting observation, the different snare tunings appear right at the start of the opener.

Well-spotted, he's got a piccolo side snare on his kit. He also decided to record this album without a hi-hat, which is strange. Pretty interesting ideas

Having two snares and no hi hat is a goddamn flex if I ever saw one. Bruv's not here to mess about.
