wow, Losing It is massive, and Heaven Eleven somehow makes that random groovy outro work
yeah this is really, really good. I liked Throw Me in the River quite a bit but completely skipped More Scared Of You, and it feels so good to come back.

Really hard not to just truly feel sad for Wil at this point.

Why the meh feedback in comparison to past work - are people just tired of the lyrics by now?
Great Album

maybe it's fatigue and the fact they haven't changed up their sound enough? i feel like a lot of the writing is them attempting to be more accessible too...? just reckon albums 1 and 3 they nailed it and i don't see them surpassing those. still good record tho

ooo this looks promising http://www.facebook.com/thesmithstreetband/photos/a.638897029484690/4194090700631954/

"just reckon albums 1 and 3 they nailed it and i don't see them surpassing those"
those albums are untouchable. i feel like will doesn't wanna get too personal in his lyrics these days after his legal troubles

i think i like this album more than the last one. feels tighter and more consistent; like every song feels vital and beautifully placed in the overall structure. great front-to-back listen.
also i was initially surprised on first listen that wil didnt directly address that whole ordeal in the lyrics, given his well-earned reputation as an honest, fairly candid lyricist. but i think all of that expression is there in the music; theres soooooo much emotional depth in the music here, despite how straightforward it might seem on first listen.

I should probably revisit this and see what I think, it’s weird that I never have had any urge to though... I went through odsessive states with their past releases.

Least listened to Smith Street Band album for me. Still good, but I didn't come back to it much.

Haven't been able to listen to this band since I realised their vocalist sounds exactly like Jim Jefferies trying to sing.

I saw Wil Wagner in a servo in Fitzroy yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a shit cunt and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “mate?” but he kept cutting me off and going “mate? mate? mate?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw Wil trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Bic lighters in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the lighters and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any instagram callouts,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each lighter and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by crying really loudly.

This rules, one of those albums I liked when it first came out and should've been listening to all year but somehow slipped through the cracks
