Agreed: an absolutely brilliant and underappreciated masterpiece. But I'm afraid you missquoted one of the most powerful lines on the album. From When We Two Parted, it's not "instead of watching you abandon me", it's (and to me this makes it so much more brutal) "instead of watching you abandoning yourself".

This record got me through a lot of difficult times. I always felt the cover conveyed the concept so well. If I Were Going is my favorite track from this, brilliant opener. I could talk about this record for hours.
