Gotta disagree genius, these guys have the basics down to a far greater extent than your average -core collective, and I'd argue they've got a leg above their peers by a noticeable margin.

I don't even get what genius is saying

I'm guessing the idea is that they're okay at one style and okay at another, and when combined, it does not equal a perfect score or a good product.
Which I definitely don't hear.

i get what he's saying, but i think theyre good at everything they try their hand at here, and the fusion just makes it better.

I'm sorry for my expressive skills.
The band played at an absolutely fine level, no problem with the playing skills. but I think they did a patchwork, rather than a high level of fusion, especially the mathrock part, which got out of hand and made me feel out of breath.
I had the impression that they were trying to imitate Option Paralysis, but they lost the pacing of mathrock greatly.
The first three songs are the best, the last two are good, but the middle ones are average. I would score it a 3.5.

It's okay, it's good to have differences. But I'll definitely go back and listen to the record you recommended, it's good. It's been literally years since I've heard metalcore I really liked.

This is top-notch in my opinion. I'd definitely try it again as I don't get the feeling it's very scattered at all and it's very well-composed.

They get the basics of their influences pretty well but thats all id give them. Plus the clean modernized sound and annoying clean vocals dont help at all. I wouldnt say theyre bad at combining elements but rather that they seem to water down their genuinely good influences with more mediocre influences
Same way how I feel about Greyhaven and most modern core bands tbh.

It's fused together in a fashion I'd considered close to expert-level and each part is clearly heard. The influences are merged so that they're not made in a haphazard manner or clash in any way, and there's still plenty of room for heaviness. I truly don't find how it's watered down outside of the fact that it is 'modern' and not featuring a more raw production.
And if you don't care about the newer direction of the metalcore sound, than yeah, you'll never get into anything like this. It's not as it was, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I never said I wanted Metalcore to sound exactly how it was before. I want Metalcore to actually evolve rather than repackage TDEP and Coalesce for a modern safe sound.

It's not scattered, it's too compact, a rush to show off one's extraordinary playing abilities. If they take care of the pacing, give ample time for plateaus and arrangement, then top-notch. But this step is very hard, the difference between masters and local heroes. I've listened to it quite a bit yesterday and today, so overall I like it.
