all the songs sound the same, nightbringers is right. you can rate something without listening to the whole thing, especially if it really makes you bored etc etc. maybe listen to another 2 songs to see the full spectrum of what the album has to offer, but that's all that's needed for this particular album.

listening now, this is really solid. their musicianship has gotten even better. only thing i don't like is the strained singing. his lower range singing on Fireside is great but when he goes into the upper register it's a bit too much

@nightbringer fair enough, I don't agree at all with that but it was a good explanation
"his lower range singing on Fireside is great"
Yea I really liked that, kinda wish he sang in his lower range more on this but I like his cleans regardless

"Proceeds to write a small novel in the comments"
I guess I deserved that ;]
But I didn't mean that I literally lack any spare time that could be filled by listening to more of this. I mean that I didn't think that the benefits of spending my spare time listening to more of it would outweigh the costs, given what else I could do with that time.
Of course, you might doubt that the benefits of writing that mini-essay would outweigh the costs, given what else I could have done with that time. I guess I find articulating this stuff satisfying, and I think that rating without listening to a whole album gets a lot of unjustified flak on this site. So I was interested in "influencing the culture" :] ... but hey, it wouldn't surprised me if there was some practical irrationality in my actions... it's pretty rare for us to optimise costs and benefits!

Hey man no hard feelings it just threw me for a loop lol, and I get not wanting to spend time listening to an album you don't vibe with. There certainly are times where I'm listening to something I don't like and just kinda tune it out, but I always listen to something at least once before passing judgement

that mini essay was more interesting than my review haha, all makes sense though
and yea, I wish he used that lower register clean more often because it sounds really good

Stillworld is still one of my favorite albums so I've been super excited for this album. About half way through it now and not disappointed. Great review BTW.

Just on my first spin now and I'm really diggin this. I like what they've done so far, but it's still nowhere near Stillworld for me. Early rating, probably like a 4? But I'm going to spin a couple more times before rating it.

@nightbringer, just busting your balls my man
and yoooo fireside slaps. that riffage before the last chorus god damn

This doesn't have those cathartic moments that Stillworld had, nor does it riff harder than Everchanger, but thats ok cus this whole album is dripping in that cold ass atmosphere that they always bring to their albums.

Bingo. Stillworld and Everchanger are definitely stronger, but this is still super solid. I'm definitely not upset with how this turned out.
