Excellent review. You captured my thoughts perfectly. I want to like it so badly, but I can't get past how homogenous it is, nor how good it is at intriguing you with a section, then dashing it all away abruptly with a series of irregular drum hits and chugs. All of the cool moments in between make me want to love this, and I recognize they're great musicians, but this just...sucks. The songs suck. Do they have any more tricks up their sleeve? I don't think so. "Cool, this sounds like DEP & Meshuggah!".....then I caught the next album, and it sounded the same. And I just reached this one the other day, and it's exactly the fucking same. I'm out. Done with these guys lmao.
Imagine releasing music as an artist and thinking it's okay to repeat yourself this many times over this many songs.
