Yeah I love the artwork. About the only thing here that’s better than the original
|
| |
yeah idk I just listened to one song and it sounded pretty good
|

its interesting for sure and sounds pretty.
but i dont know how i feel because the original always felt older than it actually was and i liked that.

For me the original sounds way more passionate and urgent than this even though everyone keeps saying this is faster
Drums sound better on the orig too

yeah drums sound a tad lifeless here

Yeah that’s what it is for me. The original version just sounds more passionate and this just sounds very by the numbers.
Plus History Reshits Itself is fucking butchered here and that was always my favorite track

I can agree on the history remake. Geoff just couldn't hit that note like last time but I don't blame him seeing he's in his 40s now.

"For me the original sounds way more passionate and urgent than this even though everyone keeps saying this is faster"
This is faster, just look at the songs' length. But I wholly agree with you on passion and urgency, this does not feel spontaneous at all.

honestly sounds pretty good.
they went for a damn near carbon-copy of the album that's 10 years old so there's definitely an uncanny valley feeling but i dig the new production. sounds heavier.

I like it but I'm going to listen to the original if I want some dead horse in my life
can't wait to see it played in full in october

this sounds really uncomfortable

Re-recording old albums is completely fine, and especially in the case of wanting to include longtime members that weren't originally involved.
This definitely isn't a bad recording either, but the notion that this is the definitive experience as far as this album goes, is absurd. The vocals sound exhausted (a consequence of Bolm's voice being chronically overstretched), the drums sounded much better on the original, and from what I have heard of this so far, it simply lacks the atmosphere that made the original such a special record.

Original is perfect so I really have no desire to listen to this one tbh.

If you want to see how far this band has come just compare Always Running Never Looking Back.
Anyone who says the original is better has got to be some form of tone deaf.

this sounds more like a "Live on some radio show" release than a proper rerecording. It was decent but I doubt I'll ever come back to it. I feel like people overreacting to it one way or the other. It just is.

I much prefer what Silverstein just did ala rerecording a grab bag of songs from multiple albums
