Pretty and subtle yap...miles away from Clairvoyant's denseness and layered darkness. Good review.

Hard, HARD disagree that Mike isn't a strong enough vocalist for what they do. Like hard.

But I also don't like Exoplanet at all and think everything they've done since has been miles ahead, so ymmv.

Here's hoping that they get into the "Follow" pocket more often though. That was highly pleasurable.

Follow is really good. And that's about all the positive stuff I can say about this ep.

He's a good clean vocalist chops-wise but his delivery can be quite stale sometimes. I find it funny though because he absolutely destroys Exoplanet-era tracks live, yet he seems to be the main reason they're ditching those kinds of harsh vocals

I described the cover as “unconvincing” to a friend then saw it in this review. Glad to see I’m not the only one. Anyways, I’m sure my rating will bump .5 in a few months (like all my contortionist ratings did).

Only half this EP is worth the listen. The Pumpkins cover is completely lifeless. All Grey does a whole lot of nothing. Follow was an unexpected pleasure and Early Grave is pretty good too. Not sure what to rate the EP overall.

Rate it a 2.5 because this is the definition of an average release

That first song rules. I think his cleans are really dynamic when paired with his harsh, but when it’s just cleans it does tend to lull me to sleep in a bad way

Nevermind, this isn't doing it for me as of late. The rose-tinted glasses came off.

This is very boring. The cleans have the indie pop vocals going on and it’s irritating as shit. 1979 cover is safe and the little spin they do put on it is distracting.

Contortionist have sh*tted out a right stinker this time around, surely their next project isn't this abysmal... right?

so...just saw them live for the first time (went to the gig because of Azusa) and the vocals were way different than what I remember from a few songs of exoplanet back then. Turns out they have a new vocalist. Great gig tho with intense light show.

If I do not like the death stuff on exoplanet but everything else is fine, which record is the best to start with?

If 1979 is a Smashing Pumpkins cover, can Early Grave please be an Architects cover??
