Now we're cooking! I can always count on Lucman to find beauty in the same places I do :-)
Yeah, Genuine is a top 3 track here for me along with Bloodletting and This Time Tomorrow. Whole album flows together beautifully, though.

Sun and Swarm takes the belt for me

'@Doof - It's gotta be an equal move. You've been listening to a lot more indie folk by my estimation, and I've been gravitating more towards baritone vocals and sad adult midlife crisis lyrics...basically an extension of my National gateway into that style. Best example this year is probably Finn.'
that seems a fair analysis, the Finn is amazing - top 4 for me
you can get back at me by throwing a 3/5 at the Bill Callahan - that's my only 5 of the year so far

I'd have to listen to it first. I see what you did there - fine, rec taken! ;-)
And yes, Sun and Swarm is top 5 for me, just behind the 3 I mentioned. A little more straightforward in its approach but probably the most enjoyable tune here.

Just finished first listen. I've never been too big on vocal centric pop albums but this really does have a magical quality to it. A couple of moments need a bit more time to warm up to me (Hunker Down is the only one I really disliked on here) but I'm confident that a 4.5 bump is not too far away.

You're one of my favorites, Luc. Glad you enjoyed it so much. It's nice to see I'm not alone in thinking this is something special.

Thanks Sowing, likewise! On second listen now and it's even better. When the saxophone comes in it just melts me. What can I say, sound wise, that's probably my favourite instrument haha
EDIT: and there she is!

I'm a sucker for either woodwinds or brass mixed with strings and electronics in a melodically pleasing way. So, basically this album lol.
Edit: best bump ever, I approve

Well look at it this way: you can take a chance on this or and maybe end up disappointed, or you can listen to the new Chance the Rapper and definitely come away empty handed.

should I check this lol

Well, I see you recommended Tim Hecker, and he's awesome.

She's collaborated with him so that's why I listed him, not sure there's actually much stylistic similarity.
Hell yeah Gyro, what made you change your mind?

Not getting much from this on first listen, though I'll give it a few more at least.

Oh wow you're the one person I really thought in the back of my mind would love this. I associate you with that Haley Heynderickx review for whatever reason, and this has a lot of the same qualities as that album's more experimental tracks. This isn't catchy or anything, but for my money it's atmospherically perfect. Hope to see it grow a bit but appreciate you taking the time to listen anyway.

I love the atmospheric guitars on Vanity. That song is quickly rising towards my top 3 tracks on the album. Pretty damn memorable for an instrumental hook.
