Fail to understand the hate for Dear Desolation. It was a big step up from the bore that was Holy War. If we're talking boring and generic- that's straight up Holy War. I'm digging Human Target pretty well too.

Should've experimented with atmospheres like they did on that song for the split EP they did.

This sounds like DD 2.0 but not as interesting. Also DD >>> Hate, so anyone who disagrees with your sentiment about Hate being better than their recent outings and DD being a disappointment might not agree with your review or understand why you believe this is a bad album.

I'm on my third spin, and while there are some legit neck-snappers, they're overshadowed by the huge amount of just... boring, same-y material.

I feel the same exact way, the fact that MAHA sounds far too similar to Puppet Master off of the last album just gives me the impression that...they're kind of just running out of ideas. Even the cyclical riffing and chuggy-laden riffs backed with 'creepy' atmospheric guitar leads is becoming too familiar. It sure seems as if they've found a formula and they're going to stick with it.

Title track is solid, Welcome Oblivion and everything after snaps necks. Everything else is just pretty eh, overall. That's my take on the album so far.

Agreed, except I also enjoy Death Squad Anthem and Chemical Christ was pretty weak for a closer imo.

Yeah for the most part it's good stuff, but there's nothing new here that wasn't on DD. For that reason, the album is a bit of a disappointment for me.

The problem with this band is that they lack an ambition at all. I remember reading this interview with the vocalist where he was asked if they would ever use clean vocals and he got really mad, said they would never even consider it and criticized other bands that used cleans. Not necessarily saying this band would be better with cleans, but it shows how hostile their attitude towards experimentation is

Hahaha trust me i dont really agree with cleans in most deathcore, but I just wish this band would do SOMETHING new. Like do what JFAC did and just go full death metal, thatd be great
