My prevailing thought listening to this is that I’d rather be listening to We Cool? or Worry

i wish Jeff actually wrote a concept album this grandiose (even if POST— was kind of a half attempt at that) because then i could actually have something to compare this to. i def hear some We Cool? similarities, but nothing Jeff has done quite matches what pdaddy have created and executed with CTS

Checked the debut again and I think my 3.5 will stick. Seems as though this is being regarded as superior though?

Conceptually superior but I have both albums at a 4.5 tbh
And pdaddy > Jeff rosenstock for me but that's just cuz I dig the emo influences

good, people won’t admit it — but it's Rosenstock's most consistent album tbh even if WORRY. has crazy highs and POST— is a great spin on post-collapse rock that Jeff embraces through the songwriting and structuring but i understand why people don't fuck with it, it’s not necessarily a catchy/hooky and concise record like everything else he’s done has been. but idk nobody fucks w POST— so maybe i'm just Nuts or somethin

His peak is still Vacation imo but Worry comes close and We Cool? has his highest peaks (besides The Shit That You Hate)
POST- is a slight comedown but way underrated

POST— is just such an inaccessible album initially that i almost feel like it's 5-10 years before its time lol, but yeah Vacation has the best, most consistent highs. some tracks aren't as good as others, but if i had to make a soundtrack of songs for my life, “Campaign For A Better Weekend” and “Felt Just Like Vacation” would have to be opener and closer for it. both easily are top 5 songs that he's written, but i still think We Cool? is his best and most flawless record, due to its incredible pacing and perfect balance of consistency and experimentation

| |
I do think Post- will get a reappraisal down the line yeah
I think We Cool? is actually a little inconsistent tbh
|
| |
all his solo stuff has been mad inconsistent bar WORRY. the highs on those albums convinced that he could still live up to BTMI but they're not as good all the way through - and none of them are in Vacation's ballpark at all sadly
|
| |
Worry is mad ambitious and carries it out with consistency and verve and has tremendous highs, I’d put it close to Vacation personally
|
| |
I mean Vacation is like, solidly top 10 album all time for me. I'm not putting just anything on its level lmao. That's not a knock against WORRY at all, fantastic album but it's not a transcendent one
|
| |
Ahhh okay I see haha, Vacation is a special album (and the best punk album I’ve ever heard personally)

Vacation is a borderline classic, agreed. All this talk has made me want to spin We Cool? again.
|
| |
I don’t care how basic it is, Nausea is his best solo track, might have to spin it now too
|
| |
I have never heard of this band but they are v cool
