The debate at this point is a waste of time, no one's going to convince anyone anymore. I still love this music but can't listen to it without feeling gross.
That being said, arguing about it is still fun. For instance anyone who would put the trite and freshman-with-an-acoustic-guitar-at-a-party "Brothers" or "Good Man" on Devil and God is absolutely insane. Even Cleanser doesn't fit that album despite possibly being their best song.

Battalions is a personal favorite of mine. It's far from the best they've done but I can never seem to get enough of it

Personally have never really been a fan of Fork & Knife

me neither
I'd rank it like this:
1) Nobody Moves
2) Missing You
3) Good Man
4) 1996
5) Brother's Song
6) Fork and Knife
Didn't count Battalions because the chorus is identical to Archers and I've always just viewed it as a demo of that song

| |
but since I adore Archers, I also adore Battalions

rankin em
nobody moves
good man

It's hard to believe how long it's been. That I was late to discover TDAG, after Daisy came out, and that same lateness was long ago. Life has been a whirlwind of college and grad school almost all that time.
Yet amongst the things I've learned lurking in the background is that you are one of my favorite reviewers, this emerged from some of my favorite band sessions, and I should check out these demos

The 3 Demos Reworked version of Missing You is so much better than the 2006 Demos version. God that chorus is infectious as hell.

thanks shark!
Also, I love the refined sound of the 3 Demos version but it's a crime that they removed that techno backbeat, that was its second biggest hook

" i playlisted a double album version of the album including like all the unreleased songs as well as all the tracks on the album but i dont remember where it is"
I'll help you out by posting the only Brand New non-LP compilation you'll ever need. It's as good as any LP6 they could have released.
1) Mene (Single)
2) I Am a Nightmare (Single)
3) Good Man (Leaked Demos 2006)
4) Missing You (3 Demos, Reworked)
5) 1996 (3 Demos, Reworked)
6) Nobody Moves (2015 Rebridge)
7) Simplemanmix1 (2018 Leak)
8) Flying At Tree Level (Beer The Movie Soundtrack)
9) Fork and Knife (Leaked Demos 2006)
10) Out of Range (Mene B-Side)
11) Moshi Moshi (Brand New/Safety In Numbers Split)
12) Brother's Song (3 Demos, Reworked)
13) Battalions (Leaked Demos 2006)
14) Am I Wrong (Brand New/Safety In Numbers Split)

oh wait by the album i meant devil and god lol my bad i shoulda specified
i do have a playlist of their non album tracks tho and it more or less looks like that in a different order and with sealed to me on it

I can't bring myself to include a live recording of Sealed to Me. Even the so-called high quality one from YouTube isn't that great.
If they ever properly record it though I'll be all over that shit.

See I never liked that techno beat. When I first heard it, I thought it was a joke or something. Way too goofy for brand new, and doesn’t fit with the chorus at all imo. The acoustic strumming and powerful backing bass works so much better

sowing thanks for reviewing this. I didnt know they had rereleased these demos. Both versions i never listened to so i will jump on this, i guess.

Glad to bring it to your attention! Be sure to also check 3 Demos Reworked, which isn't just a remaster but a 2015 re-recording of Brother's Song, Missing You, and 1996.

fork and knife is really good

Fork and Knife, 1996 and Nobody Moves should've been included on TDAG instead of Untitled and Archers. I'd probably leave Handcuffs and Not the Sun as I enjoy both quite a bit.

those three songs being on that album would cement it as a top 5 album of all time imo
|

archers is amazing, fuck no to that exclusion.
