I bet, a bit more dirt on these live plus some fervent energy would make this album a 4 for sure.

Caught them in Toronto last night. Absolutely amazing show. One of the best i've ever seen, to be honest. They did this entire album, minus Tracing The Grid. I got to meet David, talk with him a bit, and get a picture with him as well. He's a really genuine guy and is exactly how you think he'd be based on his music.

I’ll be seeing them in August with mwY. Two of my favorite bands of all time at one show is a dream come true

Never listened to this band before, but I'll be going back through the whole discog now. Wasn't expecting much of anything from this, but it's easily one of my favorite albums of 2019 so far. Quietest Friend, Black Canyon and Model Homes have me sooooo hooked. Loving this.

For what it's worth, a good deal of the album's intrigue comes from its lyrical themes, and how the instrumentals call and respond to them. It's very rich in that way, but, uh, I don't expect people to sit through immediately kinda boring music to uncover something that mightn't even be there, so I understand. They're bound to be better live, Bazan's a great performer. Check Control probably if you want to get familiar with what's considered their best.

Damn, I agree: Branches is his best. But I do prefer this to the rest of Pedro like Boney, if only slightly.

wow this is an incredibly uninteresting album [2]
I made it about halfway before I realized this just isn't for me. There might be some good lyrical themes but it hits too hard in the self-indulgent meandering category for me. I like to connect a bit more with the lyrics than that. And the music... it's just so unforgivably bland.

Nothing is ever gonna touch IHTFAF, but that’s one of my favorite albums of all time. This album is back to the Branches/early Pedro quality that I like though. Can’t wait to catch them live next week
