Pretty good review. I think the intro could be better, there is really no need to rehash their history and transition from heavy to pop band at this point. Or at least do it in less of a biographical way. Just seems a bit lazy. Otherwise, not bad.

@TheSpirit: I've always had a bit of trouble with intro paragraphs, it's either something like this or make it like two to three sentences and way shorter than everything else for me.

I'm liking this, Nihilist Blues is fucking great, and I like the flow of the first 5 songs. Medicine and Mother Tongue fuck the album up.

@Groundking: yeah, those are bottom two for me. I don't hate them, but they're really generic and disrupt the flow.

In the Dark reminds me of Ed Sheeran. Just gonna throw that out there.

I actually kind of dig Medicine for some reason... but not Mother Tongue at all. Haven't heard all of this album yet but I'm leaning towards a 2.5-3 at this point.

@William: yeah on first listen Mother Tongue was a 2, now it's just stuck at 2.5 for me.

@Luc: That's not a bad comparison, tbh.

Like this miles more than the previous effort. I really did not think I would like this at all. The singles work better cohesively, and Nihilist Blues incorporates the sound Grimes carries and it works pretty well. Mother Tongue and Heavy Metal can be scrapped.

The last five seconds of Heavy Metal are m/ m/ m/ but yeah, i feel ya.

I'm also going to throw this curveball: "Mother Tongue" is one of the best songs here.

I actually dig it too but I hate the synth parts that sound like farts squeezing out... no joke, first thing I thought of. I also hate that " I make sense right like" bit throws off the flow of the whole song.

So this is a tad better than TTS. "Nihilist Blues" and the final three tracks are actually pretty great. But the rest of this is a snooze.

I wish musically medicine was more interesting cause the chorus is a straight banger

"Nihilist Blues" and the closer are the best cuts on this.

No song here is perfect, though. Although I love the chorus on Mother Tongue the rest of the song really falls short, especially that bridge. It's quite the mess. But I'd take a great chorus on an otherwise bad song than a song that's painfully generic all the way through.
