"There’s a room inside of which sits a circle of people listening to this clicking their fingers, stroking their beards and thinking they’re above everyone else because they ‘get it’"
that's racist man
I proudly wear a beard for 3-4 months a year and to stereotype us like that is just plain wrong, we can "get" or "not get" anything we want
bearded people matter man, you just cant say anything you want about us

Except you wham man. You’re cool and are in the circle of those who get ‘it’ I see you in beard month(s) though and I’m burning the fucker right off your face.

it is not a hip beard, you would not think I am trying to look cool wearing it
I am pretentious about music though, like all good fans of the Dead

I’m ashamed to say I am as well. When I reel off jazz albums to me mates they think I’m an almighty cunt. Can’t say I blame them really it does come across as unbelievably wanky.

That's why i cant believe you don't like this, avante-garde at the very least, a jazz man should appreciate the effort at least

See I’m going to fall into the trap of sounding a proper bellend here but I like the groove of jazz alongside the unshackled excitement of it. *strokes beard*
This to me comes across too strongly as some bloke taking the piss and unforgivingly at the same time taking itself too seriously.

Zak, i dig it, I love the groove of Jazz, love jazz, buttttttttt, I love the weird and bizarre as well, Zappa can have a absolutely lights out band and only let them "play" for 5 minutes an album, or the Dead create an opening that could lead to a great jam and are too lazy to take it, but you still listen to it all to get that hint of greatness, be it groove or jam or weirdness, some more easily decipherable than others
