“If anything’s underrated it’s LINAWR” [2]

Ah, I have to disagree - Pull the Thorns was a progression from the more straightforward hardcore/pop punk blend of Renacer. It took more chances, flowed better, and had a wider variety of songs. The shoegaze overtones on "Wounds", post-rock influences on "Surrender" and adventurous song structures (the title track, "The Courage of an Open Heart") were all welcome experiments that paid off. "Take Refuge" grooves so hard, too. And the closing track, while it could have been extended to better effect, is the best finale they've ever recorded.

For all those supposed positives, Thorns pretty much ruined almost all the hooks and replaced the authentic lyricism with bland cliche.

Don’t get me wrong—I enjoyed Pull The Thorns, still gave it a 4. But, to me, the atmosphere and experimentation was at its fullest and best executed on Renacer and Pull The Thorns was just a stripped-back version overall, albeit with some major highlights. You mentioned all my favorites I believe actually haha

Exactly not what I wanted from this band. Pull the Thorns was a hugely underrated, unique record. This is mid-2000's throwback slop.

This guy knows the deal.

One question Hawks, have you returned to this ever since you rated it?

Storm raised his after a revisit, maybe it'll work for you.

I’ve jammed enough to know I don’t dig but maybe I’ll give it another chance cause it’s been a while I guess.

this album would be much better if they went in the direction hawks prefers. I still prefer the heavier shit. I loved the path they took with the album after Renacer it's like they were becoming their own version of Deftones which I am definitely in love with, i mean okay with.
