"awesome review, completely agree. wish this was the default review instead of treb's shite one lmao"
Honestly, I'm not one to get too miffed on staff reviews because I understand they're coming from some pretty reputable writers on the site, but that review in particular aggravated me. I thought it was was pretty under the bar as far as the standards go for staff reviews.
I'd be honoured if this one superceded it.
Emo/indie rock I can get on board with, definitely.
"i guess i wasn't really trying to call it indie pop, as much as i was tryna say that it had indie, pop, and rock influences, idk."
Fair enough! I see where you're coming from, on that note.

eh a couple users hate it, a couple users love it, but I think most of us are right in the middle. It's a good album. Could be better, could be worse.

Thanks man! Very kind words. I appreciate it.

Agreed in some sense; while I didn't include any negative points or constructive criticism in my review, there are a couple things I could see being done differently or better to improve the overall experience.

For me this was the first PBTT album that didn't rip me apart. Allow me to ramble.. The past 3 albums are a trilogy of sorts. Pre death, death, post death. Did we need a post death pt. II, probably not, I think that would be too much, so now we have a new era. It doesn't have the same impact of loss, which for me is something that was so emotionally strong and prevalent on the past albums, so there is a bit of a hollow feeling to it. The songs are okay, the drumming is fantastic, but without the soul crushing lyrical concept it falls short for me.

Totally understand! And its why this one is so prevalent for me, as explained in my last paragraph of the review. But I get it, without that experience being perfectly in line with this release, I'd likely be exactly where you are.
I encourage those without that experience to drop trying to listen to this as a way to live through the more negative or sorrowful emotions associated with the first two LPs. This album isn't meant to be framed in that context at all. Start listening to it in a more positive light. I consistently rock it before and after big social gatherings, as an example.

.. but I think it's perfectly fine. I like this album's mostly optimistic tone and I'm glad that Durfey has some happiness in his life after going through so much shit in past years. To me this light and melancholic tone is enjoyable too, eventhough it doesn't have the weight or the climaxes of their past material.

I love the uplifting but still kinda moody tone of this.

Doooooo it. I've been jamming it hard all week.

I need to give this one another fair listen. I love Keep you, easy 5, but this initially seemed much more weak.

I'd highly encourage it, both listening to this and the rest of their stuff. Quite the repertoire they have.
