I wouldn't say there's nothing wrong with it. It has its flaws.

It's certainly not bad but IDK guys this isn't doing much for me.

Adventures of Jason and JR has a pretty great groove, shame the lyrics are such shit

JR is capable of so much better lyricism...

The lyricism was what really sold me on early PD albums. None of the songs here give me that sinking feeling of dread I get reading the lyrics to Prowler or Terrifyer.

Book Burner had terrible lyrics too. Dude has just lost his mojo

I get the lyrics critique and also in terms of atmosphere (much less filthier). However I just love this bouncy riffs (ETID comes to mind quite often). I also think that if this wasn't PD you guys would be all over it m/ - 2 and 2.5 rates are quite low for this, unless you're a full grindhead. This is hardcore now.

A little to metalcore-like for me. It’s decent enough I guess.

A lot of it for me is actually how bad the production truly is on this. There's quite a few songs I like but the production hampers down all the best qualities of everything on this. It's a big complaint I have and honestly if it was better, I could see me giving this a 3.5 rather than a 2.5.

If this was a different band, I'd probably rate this as a 2.5-3, but as a Pig Destroyer record, this is a complete dumpster fire. I also hated Book Burner though and I know a lot of people don't agree with me on that. I agree with Fear about the production though. It's almost mind boggling how horrendous the drums sound.

It's not just drums but I honestly feel like the guitar doesn't seem to pack that huge punch that past albums have.
|
| |
The guitars could sound better but the drums are the most glaring flaw because they simply do not match the production of the other instruments. The mix would be a lot more tolerable if the drums were actually mixed to serve the songs instead of whatever the hell happened here. Kind of strange when you realize Hull has mixed all of their albums and yet the last two clearly sound worse than their prior records.
Anyone remember when they said they were going to release two different mixes to Book Burner and that never came to fruition?

pig destroyer are a weird band. They used to play with no bass and for me in all their records the production could be debatable. Every hear needs adpatation and pre-disposition. Maybe this time instead of raping little girls they thought about raping "production experts" minds
