I agree that a 1/5 is too harsh because there's good stuff to be found here, but for me the "you lied, that makes me mad / I cried, that makes me sad" dr Seuss lyrics make it impossible to take the album seriously

indeed. the lyrics and vocals are easily what bogs this down so much. Another factor for the harsh avg is surely the drama surrounding the recording / post-production process where Kam Lee was somewhat suckered into writing a much more accessible album which he had no interest in doing

see idk if that's even true. Bill Andrews and Terry Butler both say Lee consciously recorded the album about a recent breakup, but hated the result and wanted the album buried. when the studio released it anyways, he played dumb and claimed he wasn't the vocalist when he clearly was.
