I tried to promote Seance but no one cared at first. Nice one Hawks.

First 2 tracks aren’t far behind, this album is consistently amazing tbh. No weak spots that I can hear as of yet.

I agree. Just listened again this morning and realized how good the back half of this is. A top 5 album of 2018 for me atm...

I feel like I need to have an opinion on this, but I get a bit hesitant whenever I see the word Americana on anything the site praises..

@Boney what impresses me most is that this has a real pastoral beauty to it without being at all hokey, I say just give the first song, Burger Hill, a shot

I wouldn’t call this Americana honestly

I'm not sure what you all define Americana as.

"Americana, as defined by the Americana Music Association (AMA), is "contemporary music that incorporates elements of various mostly acoustic American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, gospel and bluegrass resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw."

This isn't in itself emblematic of Americana, but there are elements - namely roots-rock and folk.

Snow Patrol mixed with some heartland 'acoustic Springsteen' emoting

Probably a 5

Doof I'm morbidly curious as to what you think of this. Seems like it's fringe your territory but also not really.

Have to admit it sounds a bit wet but then it also sounds quite pretty so it depends which force wins out

Two songs in and I'm ruling out both a 1-1.5/5 rating and a 4.5-5/5 rating lol

I likely don’t even know what I’m talking about @Sowing lol. Listening again right now I can definitely hear that influence at times, but just as much indie folk. Either way, who cares because this shit rules. Reminds me of the band Woods actually, they’re pretty cool if you haven’t heard em

Yeah I sense some slight Woods vibes as well. I don't know what I'm talking about either, Americana isn't really my genre of choice, but parts of this do fit the definition...genres are stupid [3] and who cares because this shit rules [2].

I’ll try this later. Not sure how I’ll feel because I’ve kind of grown off of the atmospheric/pretty/pastoral folk/Americana thing lately.

Their self titled isn’t as immediate, but seems pretty great as well

“Wanting Things Makes You Shittier” sounds like Bon Iver big time

Yup, this makes Snow Patrol sound like Morbid Angel, first song was the best, generous 2.5
