Lucid I agree completely, it's def a subjective thing. usually for me it's when the actions encroach the art to the point where it's hypocritical, thus taking away from the art itself. there's a few moments like that on here but overall not as bad as the whole "Fail better, heal faster" project

Spotify To Promote XXXTentacion Again After Backlash
"The move drew criticism from employees and prominent players in the music industry, including Kendrick Lamar, who argue that the policy will single out artists of color" (via Stereogum)

interesting...I think they kinda did single some artists out and didn't really enforce the "all or nothing" rule but it's intriguing they pulled back so quick

This comment is on-point:
"It'd be one thing if Spotify were doing this to guys who were arrested on drug charges or "resisting arrest" or what have you, but racism doesn't excuse aggravated domestic violence any more than "economic anxiety" does.
The kid's a piece of shit, and Kendrick Lamar cheapens himself by rising to his defense."

yeah I agree with that, pulling the race card here definitely pushes the conversation away from what’s really the issue. however after talking with people if spotify is gonna do something like that they better take ALL artists into account with such charges, which I’m not quite sure they did. either way i’ll avoid giving this guy more spotify streams

yup and sorority noise and JANK even has their music BACK on spotify. good idea in theory but they should prob stay out of attempting to be that moral authority.
|
| |
spotify is the fucking worst. They pay their artist a lot less than pretty much all other streaming services and barely even bother to pay them on time.
i don't wanna see XXXTentacion make anymore $$$, but it is kinda a joke for them to pick and choose who gets kicked off. you bet your ass they aren't gonna kick off huge artists, or regret putting artists back on if it means them potentially loosing a lot of money.
|
| |
the issue isn't kicking artists off spotify entirely but putting them on their promoted/curated playlists right? unless I have that wrong. a bit different, I suppose...
|
| |
the problem is people like listening to music but don't like putting the effort into figuring out what they actually like and discovering artists they really connect to, or if they even like music at all. They just let the big corporations do the 'hard' work for them. That's why we have the top 40's and now these 'curated' playlists. Most people just don't care what's playing as long as there's something playing... I dunno why silence is such an issue for people that clearly do not care about music at all.
