"Sadly and surprisingly, it's DOOM who ends up being the album's weakest link. His flow always sported a sluggish unflappable edge, but here, it spirals on most every cut he takes on, and if before, his free and easy approach felt like a statement of style and a personalized pathos, nowadays he sounds beaten and plain beat"
cosigned, beautiful encapsulation of this record, i need a nap,

I will happily admit that I'm straight-up salty due to my undying love for 7L & Esoteric, and I hate to see them discarded as an afterthought. It's a well-written review otherwise, but I just can't get over the sub-par MC comment. Off the top of my head I can recommend any track from The Soul Purpose, or DC1+2, and there's something there to be impressed by, whether it's 7L's quality old-school beats, Esoteric's varied lyrical themes and styles, his humour and his flow. I mean, listen to Precision or Deathgrip and you'll see flow and lyrics together.

no need to be salty per-say but when someone who obviously is slightly lacking in knowledge about the genre and the group at hand comes out to make assertively negative statements about members of said group its a bit unbecoming but anyway after a few facetious posts he seems to have acknowledged his mistake
|
| |
facetious is a great word because it's one of the only words in the english language where all the vowels appear once in ascending order
if only the wordplay on this album was as clever :'(
|
| |
I don't even know how to pronounce that word

fa - see - schous

Ahhh so that's the word. I've only heard it uttered a few times so I couldn't tell if that was the same word I'd been hearing.

Is it just me or does doom kinda sound like a doomposter on this?

This is actually alright. Not the best thing either artist has done sure, but still solid.

Both 7L AND Esoteric deserve a shit load more love in my opinion. Listen to The Soul Purpose... That album is literally a defining sound of late 90s hip hop. Uplifting boom bap production, humourous, varied and some of the most witty bars you'll hear.
