AIC did it right, this is just sad

The opener, Middle of Nowhere reminds me heaps of their track Sex and Violence off No 4.

The opener is the best this has to offer.

Confirming the terribleness.

It's not terrible, but it seems I'm almost the only one who feels like this. It's pretty enjoyable in parts.

Sorry guys AiC new stuff is as soulless as this. And anyone who says Jeff isn't doing an impersonation of Weiland is trippin'. The music is average, made worse by a singer not being himself.

Yeah this is poor but I doubt many people thought it would be any good.

dog are you implying new AIC material is a 2? Cause that's just wrong

Are you implying that this does indeed have soul? Make up your mind.

Black Gives Way to Blue is fantastic. AiC's last record I didn't listen to much but comparing that to this as apples to apples is just laughable. Jerry Cantrell has his shit put together compared to what the twats in STP are regurgitating.

And this isn't the worst thing ever, but it takes no risks and like people mentioned earlier they want the new guy to resurrect Scott Weiland Weekend at Bernie's style by completely emulating Scott instead of bringing something new to the table. Honestly, I'd rather have them try something new and fall flat on their faces then release this dud of a record that defines the term "playing it safe" with it's almost non divergent 3 min stagnant rock tracks that really just make me want to listen to Core, Purple, and other earlier STP records.

Eh? I'm implying AIC's work without Layne is as soulless as this. Don't cut yourself on all that edge, mate.

I haven't heard this record. I have, however, heard AiC's work without Layne and it has plenty of "soul", whatever that vague intangible and pretty corny term means. Therefore the implication is that this record has soul too.

Don't argue, folks. With or without Layne, Alice in Chains have always been a celebration of all things flat, dried of life and anorganic.

Haha couldn't be further from the truth. Would, Down in a Hole, Heaven Beside You, AiC were fantastic at crafting moody tracks that perfectly reflected depression, addiction, helplessness, etc.

THis dude sounds a lot like Weiland lol

Yeah, another Elvis impersonator fronting a grunge band

That'd be true but Weiland was Weiland.
