I completely agree with Jethro. That suite is really good. That is why I say "Fly From Here" is one of the best albums from Yes since "Drama". And because many prog epics are little more than a collection of individual tunes strung together, don't make of them necessarilly a bad suite.

And again I agree with Jethro. 3.5 is a fair and perhaps the better rating for that album.

@Titan; i'm currently into a Yes binge. I need to discover both Union, Talk and revisit The Ladder.

Fine evening yeah, it smells spring with all these clement temperatures in Montreal ;)

Everything is ok for you my man?

e21 bro, sighting in the week end...It's rather rare. And I think it's 2 am in your country...?

@Titan, I'll start with Talk. I only heard bad things about Union.

Almost, Jethro. Here we have the same hour of UK. So, it's a bit more than 1 am. But you're right, it's time to bed.

I also need to revisit "The Ladder". From what I can remember, I liked the album.

So, good night, bro.

Talk is... great, honestly. Shameful or not, I think it's a great album. Technically it's right between a 3 and a 3.5 for me but I'm keeping it on 3.5 because it needs love. It is obviously very poppy but the music flows so seamlessly that I don't mind it at all. It's even downright emotive in places in my opinion. It also has the longest suite since Awaken, and to be precise it's like 20 seconds longer than Awaken :D

If you thought that Keystudio felt too tiresome to sit through then Talk could be a very pleasant alternative to it.

For now I'll leave my judgement about Fly From Here to this new Return Trip. It's out March 25th

Of all studio albums of Yes, the only albums I'm not very comfortable to talk about are "Big Generator", "Union", "Talk, and especially "Heaven & Hearth", an album I've never listened, really, and that I haven't any copy at all. So, I need to check again "Talk", to have a final opinion. As you know, I have no problems with "Keystudio". Still, with your comment you sharpened my appetite to "Talk". Definetely I'm going to put it in my prioritary list. Thanks bro.

About "Fly From Year", I sustain that it's one f the best things that Yes as made since "Drama" with "The Ladder" and after "Keystudio" and "Magnification".

I suggest to check out the Endless Dream suite first. It may seem counterproductive to check it first but I think that maybe you'll be more inclined to accept the other songs if you already like the big one.

Or maybe just check this little bit, it's the first 2 minutes of the suite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9olwF7epXeg

I have a hard time with Ladder and Magnification but I'll be happy to change my mind with the Return Trip

Thanks for your advice Sab. I'll follow it for sure. Besides I always loved suites. Beyond prog rock my favourite style of music is the classical music, and as you know, classical music is full of suites.

About "Return Trip", I'm very curious too.

Cool, hope you dig. It took me a while but it won me over.

I'm ignorant when it comes to classical music, but recently I've grown interest for Schubert's Death and the Maiden.

Nice, Schubert is one of the greatest classical composers. Still, as Italian, you have an amount of classical composers. Maybe you can try your countryman Vivaldi and listen to "The Four Seasons" carefuly. I'm sure you know that piece already. He is one of greatest composers of the Baroque period. You can also check Bach, another Baroque composer, considered by many as one of the best, if not the best. For instance, Hackett and Howe loves the guy. Outside of the Baroque you have, of course, Bethoven and Mozart. These names are enought to keep you very busy for a while. But, besides these names we have an endless list of many other names.

Yeah I've been exposed to Vivaldi since forever, especially the Primavera concerto, which is also the reason why many people like me forget about the music in a sense. I'll have to dig deeper into it. A friend is really into classical music and oftentimes my discoveries are due to him. One time we had to take a train for a few hours and part of the journey was spent listening to Bach's full Mass in B minor

All Vivaldi's concertos and sonatas I know are great.

About Bach he has an enormous oeuvre. Maybe you can try the organ works, especially Toccata & Fugue BWV 565, the six Brandenburg concertos BWV 1046 - 1051, the four orchestral suites (overtures) BWV 1066 - 1069 or St Matthew Passion with choir and orchestra. All these oeuvres are great and passionate.

About Mass in B minor BWV 232, I never had the opprtunity to listen to it.

Thanks, I'll keep those in mind.

That Mass is like 2 hours long so I don't blame you

You're welcome, Sab.

Yeah, it's perhaps a too long mass for my taste.
