I almost forgot Underoath existed for a split second. I didn't know they were still kicking.

I'll add that to my list of bands to re-listen to along with Senses Fail.

Really like this album, but I feel its severely overrated. Honestly it's almost annoying at this point to see another 5 for this one. I get that people worship this band, but I personally don't get it. I'd give it a solid 4.

I agree the album was overrated. I wasn't going to dock it a point because of that, but I can agree that "Sempiternal" got a lot of exposure upon release. I appreciate the album for what it was and base my opinion off of that. I do appreciate the different perspectives on this record. I enjoy these types of discussions.

That's the thing. Hype can really kill someones enjoyment, even if they like it a lot. I always try to base my ratings on my personal enjoyment, not on hype or other people's opinions, but it's not always that easy.

I enjoyed this album the two times I listened to it. Thought it was kinda like a blend of Architects and Enter Shikari, but with a more boyish voice (so inferior imo).

I hate hype culture very much. People always overly anticipate something that they expect to be superior. I'm a comic fan, so every time a Marvel or DC film drops, millions of people expect that film to be 100% perfect. Anything less than that they will either argue is too complex for critics and fans to understand, or will say we are paid to state a false opinion. Why can't we have moderate expectations? Music works the same way. People jumped on the BMTH train and claimed Oli Sykes was the savior of metalcore. When "That's the Spirit" dropped, people couldn't wait to drink the Kool-Aid. It's all about the mindset people have when it comes to stuff like that. People expect that because something in the past was so life-changing everything that follows will have the same impact. If it's not that way, then they convince themselves it is. That's why I can't stand being around hype.
