Thanks Bloc :p
I had no survival instinct at the time, and she was "emotionnally" irresponsible. But well, just felt like sharing a story.
Actually, thank you guys.

About the review, nice writing by the way.
I bought Absolution after having heard Stockholm Syndrome. I was very impressed by that shift into heaviness. And then, I tried for years to like the album, and the band, and never managed to.
I was convinced that they were awesome but simply would never listen to them. The music didn't inspire me anything special, and actually bored me incredibly. Which was even more incredible as it sounded like the last thing that should have inspired boredom. But I would feel horribly bored halfway through each track. (I've just tried again same result with Time Is Running Out)
I think it has something to do with the music feeling very self-conscious -don't ask me what it means- or too over the top, like a constant climax. When you hear "Our time is running out" for the first time in the track it sounds awesome, and then the tenth time feels cynically over-emotionnal fake and robotic.
I still like a lot of their songs of course. and... I listened to their downfall The Resistance a lot more (except exogenesis). It felt quieter, calmer, simpler. Uprising is a listenable song.

good review although when you think of the idea that time isn't real only an illusion you start to realize that time doesn't change us we are the ones that change.

I hate it but I agree with the general premise of this review. All of Muse's stuff was once earth-shattering to me, now it feels like Queen-lite, and the lyrics are mostly atrocious.

It definitely stung to realize and to write, that's for sure

@Sowing
Queen were my first love as a kid, Muse just seemed like a natural thing. I see massive flaws in both bands now but there are decent songs between them for sure. The main difference between now & then is the fact I actually wanted over-the-top theatrics & couldn’t appreciate restraint or subtlety.

@Demon: your Queen experience is a lot like my Journey experience. They were my very first band, and I fanboyed to them like crazy back then. But now, they're just a fun arena rock band with some really great albums
Queen, on the other hand, are still one of my all-time favorite bands to this day. They were another nostalgic act for me, but their peak era never lost its touch imo

I fanboyed all those kinds of classic rock bands: Queen, Journey, Styx, Boston, The Eagles, et. al...I think it;s what formed my taste early on and led me to bands like Muse.

Don’t get me wrong Queen can be very good but stuff like ‘I Want to Break Free’ & ‘We Will Rock You’ makes me cringe now. I will defend Under Pressure & Innuendo to the death though (for example).

@Demon: Do you still enjoy albums like Queen II and Night at the Opera at least? And yeah, Innuendo is underrated as hell
