haven't heard that one in a while
|

also nice dig cold, probably my favourite Floyd
|
| |
@tuna it's the BEST Floyd. My dad used to tell me stories when he would rip that vinyl on a big sound system and convinced me for years that every time you listened to it, you could hear different animal noises. Way later on in life, he told me he was just on LSD hahaha.
|
| |
A few months ago me and 2 flatmates came home completely wasted, stuck Animals on and just laid there for 40 mins in awe
you could tell me any 70s Floyd album is your favourite and I wouldn't object but for me, it'll always be Animals

"The Long Shot that is a gross over simplification of the album."
Eh not really, MJ's paranoia comes out in full-force on here and it's very uncomfortable to listen to at times

It Seems Like You're Ready and Lost in Your Love are my two favorites.

The Long Shot- yeah there are songs that have paranoia like D.S. and This Time Around
, but there are other songs like You Are Not Alone, Stranger in Moscow, History( i didn't like that), 2 Bad, Money, and They Don't Care About Us which aren't really that angry. Plus Little Susie and Smile.

To be fair to TheLongShot, some of the songs you mentioned are very paranoid songs like Stranger in Moscow. It's not an angry song but the lyrics are definitely paranoid...
"Kremlin's shadow belittling me
Stalin's tomb won't let me be...
KGB was dogging me
Take my name and just let me be"
Though of course the song was made after the 93 allegations were brought out and MJ felt that everybody was against him so it makes sense.
Money is also a pretty angry, paranoid song about people using him for money.

Great album, though I agree that it can be hard to listen to with how bitter and angry it can be. I think he does a decent job of balancing it out with softer songs like You Are Not Alone and Little Susie (though that song is depressing as hell) Smile ending the album is a really heartfelt message after all of the anger and resentment found on here.
Tabloid Junkie and This Time Around are underrated MJ songs imo while Stranger In Moscow/They Don't Care About Us are some of his best songs period.

Yeah, Stranger In Moscow could be viewed as a paranoid song but I believe those lyrics were metaphorical in some sense. Money can be interpreted as a song that denounces greed and the lust for the green stuff. It isn't necessarily paranoid.

I could've sworn you were readdyyy

Man tp2 has too many great songs to narrow it down to a few. Just Like That, Strip For You, Fiesta, and I Decided are all insanely good though, really all the tracks you mentioned. I love how at the end of Feelin On Yo Booty he just bursts out laughing saying boogiboogiboogi booty lmao

Oh yeah the lyrics are definitely a metaphor to MJ being hounded by the media and paparazzi. Poor guy. One of the most interesting parts of the song is the man speaking in Russian at the end of the song. It's so depressing

"Why have you come from the West?
Confess, to steal the great achievements of the people
The accomplishments of the workers?"
It seems kind of random but in context it sounds like MJ being questioned by the KGB after the allegations.

It Seems Like You're Ready is one of my all time favorite songs. TP2.com is truly a classic album. Oh yeah, how could I forgot I Wish, which is another classic.
I also like Write Me Back which has great tracks like One Step Closer and Feelin' Single.
Feelin' on Yo Booty is super funny at the end I agree with that.
I also like the album R. Kelly which has classics like You Remind Me of Something, Down Low. It also has other great tracks like Religious Love, Baby, Baby, Step In My Room, I Can't Sleep etc.
