It can definitely become pretty grating after a while

This was pretty enjoyable pretty much what I expect from them with some overzealousness of their more cheesy moments and some questionable clean vocals at times but overall a nice album.

Autotheism was much more of a shitstain than this

I loved Akeldama and Planetary Duality. Have not heard anything else but I may be inclined to check them out at some stage.

I still prefer those albums, honestly. Akeldama and Planetary Duality are some fantastic tech-death records

Good review Brendan. A buddy of mine just played a show supporting The Faceless and he swears I should give them a(nother) shot. So I'm gonna give this album a listen.

Thanks! It all depends on what style you want out of the band. If you're going for the more proggy stuff, this one's worth a shot. But if you want straight-up technical death metal, the first two are your best bet

Granted, all their stuff is proggy to an extent

I'm really not seeing what everyone's talking about with the clean vocals, I don't find them shaky at all.

As I said previously, I don't find them bad (they're actually pretty good). I just think they could have been used a little less

Whole album could have been used a little less.

This album sounds like Keene let the roll of a dye determine literally everything, from the song structure to the number of songs to probably even the release date.

You should check out Rings of Saturn Hawks. You might love them even more than these guys.

Could’ve condensed this down to just a few tracks and it would’ve been a pretty good EP. The highs are pretty cool, but the rest is boring or just very disjointed.

I can understand that reasoning too. This is definitely not the band at peak form

I'll take your Rings Of Saturn and raise you Brain Drill.

Brain Drill is one of the most atrocious death metal bands ever
