Sounds like you need to hit up Jerome and interrogate him

Check the lyrics if you get a chance. They elevated the album quite a bit for me.

The lyrics are absolutely wonderful. Now that I'm actually jamming this and near the tail end of it, my initial impression is that its definitely solid and has some gorgeous atmospherics but Ill need to listen to it a few more to wrap my around their end game with this one.

Lyrics in post metal are fictional. They're just making noises.

I agree somewhat. Vocals in this genre are more about texture than content. Although, I like how they trend towards being more abstract and about macro concepts

Unfortunately the lyrics are pretty much the best part of this album.

Definitely a grower. Wasn't too enamored with it upon first listens. Now after playing it in the car all last week I have different feelings about it. Relief is the the main one. I am so glad this is a different path for the band. The last two albums for me are decent but not excellent. I was afraid the band would get stale. Nope, really digging this. Without digressing into details (I am gonna write a review for this), I think this will end up in my top 5 for 2017. Best song is King Ivory Tower.

I look forward to reading your review teamster. I was exactly the same on first listen but after a few I warmed to it. Definitely not their best by a long shot but a very listenable and solid release.

Damn eh? It did the opposite of grow on me after subsequent listens. Its still a solid outing but it has left me wanting

Definitely not as immediate as their other records but still pretty good.
I can at least appreciate each album sounds different.

honestly the production absolutely ruins this for me, it sounds absolutely horrible, every time i think i'm getting into it everything sounds so smothered, muddy and squashed together

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you on that one

I'm surprised how little attention this is getting

plus i hate the overabundance of the frankly indistinct clean vocals. armine's vocals are great, i want to hear more of them. last album had a nice balance of vocals, this one seems to really cater to the cleans and they're just... really boring.
maybe i'm overstating the abundance but like, every time i hear the cleans i just want armine to come in and start screaming at me instead

Just feels really tepid throughout. Too much wandering around on this one imo. I enjoyed it, and I'm sure I'll come back to it (3 = keeping it in my collection) but it fails to deliver the goods in the way they've done in the past. At any rate, at least its better than The Anesthete!

I remember not liking that album, kinda bored me. This is better?

Production is aight. I agree about the vocals. There's a reason the strongest tracks/moments on this record involve Armine.
