Still little overlap for Zak and me in the 80s - I'm in The The/Prefab Sprout land and Zak's more Iron Maiden :D

Honestly don't know which is noncier

Subversive band honestly, vocals and lyrics are so good here, favourite use of the Irish accent in song for me.

This is no more wet than The Smiths, sorry

Listen to Prefab Sprout 'Jordan: The Comeback' which I also 5'd - now that is truly some genius 80s fluff

Gotta admit I have I bit of trouble with the 80s, have barely scratched the surface but of all decades from the 60s to the present it's the least appealing to me.

There was a real synthetic sheen to everything, a few absolute classics but it was a packaged, moulded, augmented and sold '70s tbh.

The 80s for me were Jacko and Axl Rose and not a lot else. Troubling times.

I was waiting for a 'John Peel' band to get me, I've resisted for so long, never totally got The Fall, never got The Smiths, Napalm Death wtf, etc.

First few spins of this band's debut and I was thinking 'bin' but the bastards got me. The ghost of Peel finally claimed me and I'm well on my way to true music bore transcendence.

Agree 100% on the packaged sheen. Production was shit back then.

By contrast 90s I consider the most appealing decade. Don't know what happened between the 80s and then but I'm glad it did.

What happened? Nirvana smashed the underground into the mainstream in one fell swoop

It had to happen, Keith Richards predicted it in around '85 that it was only natural for people to kick against it.

It sure wasn't Nirvana imo, honestly mainstream 90s was shit too
