if you dig good, interesting and intricate yet simple instrumentation in a pop album, then yeah.
sum peeps have sum issues with the voice tho, so i dunno

What neatoo said. Peek a few tracks off their last album first and see if you dig them.

Awesome review. Album did nothing for me on first listen (except the amazing rhythms on 'Can't Do), but I sure can't wait for me to look back on this comment and say "what a dick, this is my AOTY")

I was looking forward to this pretty hard as I loved Get to Heaven and I found the title track here to be astoundingly beautiful, but outside it and Night of the Long Knives I found this to be quite a bore. Most of it sounded the same and idk I just wasn’t feeling it. We’ll see if things change later.

i don't care if it's just a distant past clone, can't do is a jam and i luv it.

It's definitely more discreet than GtH and some of the tracks are a slow burn, especially Good Shot Good Soldier

I think this ever so slightly exceeds GTH

No I do think it

Last one had far better hooks. Best they manage here is that quite grating "Desire" chorus which is only an earworm through sheer force. Can't find the melodic elegance of "Spring Sun Winter Dread" or "Get to Heaven" here.

I think Can't Do is better than Distant Past and Desire better than Regrets when it comes to the single fodder
There's plenty in the way of hooks too with the first three tracks, and great melodies on Good Shot Good Soldier, T/T, Put Me Together has a great atmosphere and a big pile of chaotic layered drums, Ivory Tower bangs
I can't get my head around being hot on GTH and tepid on this, they're sister albums IMO

Get to Heaven is the sun to the spring and A Fever Dream is the dread to the winter. I keep shoehorning album references because these two records are companion pieces more than anything. They're the "shits fucked" of pop music.
