Sad when a clone is better than the original creators nowadays.

imitators cant beat Incantation's first 3.

I know an imitator that's better, then again one of the members used to be part of Incantation.

Ugh.

sad when people think poor or blatant imitations can somehow be 'better', whatever that even means

Imitators can't touch this band and they never will. Even after 25 years these guys still put most dm bands to shame.

I'm not sure that the Silly Willies would write something like that.

Rips a lot of buttholes wide open!
Come on Jac, relisten to this and redo the review.

Karl, I love and miss you, but this album is lame.

I also think that Father Befouled are growing out of their Incantation imitation a bit. Their new album had some cool melodic segments that really freshened up the sound. Not to mention the production was nice and dirty which better suits cavernous DM. Production here is too clean.

Come on Brandon this rules, nothing lame about it.
I miss Wiz too though. :[

Well I wouldn't go so far as to say the album is lame but it definitely feels phoned-in and, like Spirit says, too clean and so not very ~evocative~
I also don't get how people just dismiss "imitators" and assert they can't possibly make better albums than Incantation's contemporary efforts, especially since Incantation have been imitating themselves (to the point of redundancy) for over two decades.

That's a fair point. Perhaps some people just have too much sentimental value loaded into the band?
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
I mean I don't have any sentimental value associated with these guys really I just dig their brand of dm. And I really don't see how this album is clean at all tbh, sounds pretty filthy to me.

I think sentimental value is the wrong word. I think I mean that people see this band as the holy grail of DM and so albums that are as strong or even weaker than some of those they have influenced are automatically given a bit more praise.
