This is the pinnacle of non DGD swancore. I've really liked their followups, but nothing they've released since has connected like this does.

I remember spinning this a while back and liking a lot of it.

It's definitely up near the top, but ALLB's No Place takes the cake for me

Conversation Piece too. Wake is probably third though

Is Dance Gavin Dance considered swancore, or is the label reserved for only their musical offspring?

They are included, IMO

Good point on the ALLB albums. I think this is better than No Place. Conversation piece is probably better, I just haven't jammed it in full in a long time.

I haven't heard Secret Wars yet. About to give it a go though...if it's anywhere near as good as this I'm psyched.

Also Mourning Sickness has this album's other stupid almost hilariously cool moment

I love everything about all of the sounds of this album, which makes me feel kind of hypocritical to say that I wished they reeled it in a little bit. So many ideas are touched on, and touched on brilliantly, but then suddenly that idea is over and it's on the next one, which can make it a little frustrating. 3.9/5

So I lied. Holy cow this is good. Everything clicked on a 3rd listen, even if the styles do switch up occasionally, the thing as a whole is so damn consistent and interesting. And the vocalist kills it every time - 4.4/5
