Never heard this band, but listened to the first track on this and I am intrigued. Looking at the comments, should I listen to this first or Lore, or one of their previous albums?

@Prancer - if you want to see how they evolved into this direction start with Dead Roots Stirring, then Lore and this one.

Lore is the album that set the blueprint for this one. It's a rawer version of Reflections. I'd say it doesn't matter which one you listen to first because both are amazing.

"Lore is the album that set the blueprint for this one"

Raul, i think the album that marked the change in their sound, is "Dead Roots". Sure, "Lore" was very different and truly a step forward, but all the experimentation we get on this record, first began with their second album.

"In the end, one has to listen to Reflections of a Floating World two or three times to truly grasp its beauty"

Yeah, true, but I find Dead Roots Stirring more stoner than progressive.

in its core, it is yeah, but the first signs of experimentation began with that album so it's only natural progression that from "Dead Roots" they went to an album like "Lore" and from that album they ended up here.

"Lore" is their greatest album in my opinion. This is really close, but it is also a different record. Check whatever album you want.

Every record they've made is worth a listen imo.

on first listen I like Lore better, but this is still incredibly solid and will probably grow, so I'll 4.5 it in advance

AOTY contender either way
