As much as I love Angel Dust, Patton doesn't do fun & catchy as well as these guys. His stuff isn't (generally) anywhere near as infectious, more 'music that's interesting' or simply experimental without a plethora of hooks.

I guess my comment was more geared towards the delivery. It's like the dude listened to "S/T" by Mr. Bungle and just copied his style. There isn't a whole lot of uniqueness to his.

Yeah that's fair, I do think it's clear where the influence is in that regard but overall they do have a sound of their own. At times the overused repetition of their own ideas is what ultimately let's them down. I really love their best work though.

Nice. Still want to check out more of their stuff. Probably gonna keep going with the remaster/reissues they are doing.

Oh wow, plus they've re-mastered (presumably not just a re-issue) Anarchists and CtaBF. I'll get around to them all eventually.

I wanna say I read they were completely re recording some, if not all, of the songs for the re issues.

It’s crazy how many different recordings they have for specific songs now. I don’t remember CtaBF needing a production revamp tbh.

It has something to do with the label(s) they were on before they had their hiatus. I think they are re recording to get rights back to songs.

Yeah that's understandable given the situation. Damn these guys now have such a confusing discography now though, ha. I just checked the Alchemy/Embyos compilation re-release and even then some of the tracks were brought forward and used on future releases (which I hadn't previously realised). As someone who started with 'Anarchists' and went forwards in time it feels all over the place in retrospect.
Has anyone else heard the new acoustic album? - I made the mistake of not checking the track titles beforehand, thought it was going to be made up of entirely new material, so I'm not sure if it therefore belongs in 'compilations' as well? Maybe not. Regardless it was alright as a general curiosity, the new version of The Darkest Days in particular, but having spun it a few times I'm not sure I'll be revisiting.
Some of the tracks sound a bit amateurish in their acoustic forms, although I think a lot of this band's material is wearing off me in my old age. It seems weird to say they 'matured' given their general tongue-in-cheek silliness, but as song-writers I believe they did, Adultery or Sweet Nothings sounds like a completely different band (Ad Nauseam was kind of boring in places though).

They are just acoustic versions of previous songs, then? I probably won't bother with it till I have dived into some more of their material, if that is the case.
I typically don't like it when a band does acoustic versions of previous songs, anyway. It seems like most bands just take the original version and play it almost exactly the same, but on acoustic guitars. If they make it interesting and play around with it, I will bite, but most seem like they don't bother.

It's acoustic versions using guitar, keyboard and strings. Todd, Jasan and Tim toured as Tres Pendejos last year, hence the album. Album is half dfd and associated, and half covers. They definitely have a different groove to the originals for me, Rapist Eyes and Toothless Dream are achingly good.

Also, an all new album is planned for next winter. Re-recordings are done, so original material is heading our way. I personally can't wait, I honestly love everything these guys do.

I should probably check these guys out.
