Have you ever had those certain albums that hit you even harder because of where you heard them? This is one of those for me. Back in 2013 a good friend of mine passed away... I was listening to this album while driving to his memorial, and it comforted me so much during that time of grief. In fact, this album makes me think of a lot of my car rides back in college. It was such a great album to chill to whenever I was commuting to and from my school

RIP to your friend Div, touching story.
I have a couple of albums like that, personal for different reasons but music can definitely drag you through trying times.

Shoutout to user yosei, joined the site, 5’d 40 albums, wrote “acute sensitivity ris not simply a "madness" ran acute sensitivityrto the resonance of "I Love You" rteaches us just a little something rit's not that we can't do something rit's just that we haven't done it yet...” as a soundoff for this and then dipped

Idk it's probably like my 3rd favourite 4.9 rn and the other two are also 4.9s
I think if Vespertine was the only album I jammed in this vein it would probably be a 5, but it's not and even though it's one of the best, the fact that I'd rather get ~some aspects of this fix elsewhere sets it back by approx 0.7

As far as intricate layering and gorgeous gorgeous emotionz of feels go, this is as good as it gets
But Homephone TE has a stronger atmosphere in its evasive, mystery-nostalgia way (plus more intriguing shifts of pace) and Tujiko Noriko's best stuff nails the zany deadpan arthouse vibe in ways Bjork never could. She never had the same cool
I wouldn't call any of those albs 'better' than each other on those grounds, but they kinda push my standards up in conjunction - and that costs Vesp a measly 0.07 for the time being
