I've never been a particular fan of music that falls under the umbrella of 'indie,' and for the most part, what I do like about it is also what gradually weans me off its bands and albums.

pretty shit opening sentence tbh

nah this definitely sounds like slanted-era pavement, just if they were less idk, deliberately artsy?

i like archers but never cared for pavement, only thing they have in common is being indie rock bands from the 90s. Besides both were around at the same time, so you could say pavement were just an artier archers of loaf.

slanted and enchanted and the first pavement ep's go harder, better, noisier than anything here.. not to mention that pavement always had much much better songwriting than these guys..

pavement always sounded like they were trying too hard to me. archers write better songs, with better melodies.

again archers r basically a popper pavement, so that's a fair assessment

For me, archers will always be the archetypal indie rock band, this album in particular. they may be more straight-forward than pavement but are all the better for it.

Yh this just feels more 'real'than anything pavement did, and i say that as a big pavement fan. From start to finish the archers have created one of the greatest indie albums here. I think saying it is more 'poppy' is fair though, but it adds a certain charm
