Ugh this album. After 7> listens, this the greatest album I've heard in a while

Think this is the Dirty Projectors equivalent to 'Painting With' for me - this album will take a lot of patience.
I instinctively liked the spastic guitar work of 'Bitte' and the off kilter folk stylings of 'Magellan'...the choppy helium chipmunk R n B style here I don't hate but I'm not sure it's quite doing it for me either.
Maybe it will grow into the perfect combo of 'No Now' and 'Garden of Delete', who knows - 3 for now...could go either way

I'm not feeling this the way everyone else is, I see this as an indie record by the numbers, and by the numbers I mean literally dotting the i's and crossing the t's with all the gimmicky music trends in the scene now that acts like Bon Iver, James Blake, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, etc have done. Maybe my opinion will change but this just seemed like a record late to the show, cashing in on experimentation and innovation that's already been proven intriguing, without it's own fresh identity.

Time has only strengthened my confidence in my rating and review for this. Forget the fact that it follows the recent trends of other experimental pop artists for a minute and see how beautiful this really sounds.

Sounds like a fella whose absolutely ripped in two because his teddy lost an eye.

It looks like a waffle that fell apart because it was overcooked

Something about the aesthetic of this album is so enticing; I wish I liked it more, perhaps it'll grow on me. Your review even, just makes it sound like something I want to love.

4.7 is hyperbole for most people. It just really clicked with me. Learn the lyrics and sing along in the car over the glitched out production and it will start to stick with you.

Even if it's not -- it's clear you genuinely love this -- I can absolutely get on board with hyperbolic ratings and reviews. :P I love the production so far, I think I'm just going to have to get used to the songwriting here. I'll definitely do those things, though, keen to listen to this in the car.

Really didn't feel my second listen of this, it's not actively bad and it has its moments but much prefer the previous two albums.

This isn't nearly as maximalist as CC, so don't quite see the similarities.
Loving it so far, though.

I like. Very RnB. Very Glitch. But also very Dirty Projectors.

That 3.3 avg makes me sick to my stomach. This is so good, probably better than 22, A Million and I gave that a 5 so I should either raise my rating on this or lower that one.

I like this better than 22, A Million, too, will have to adjust ratings.

great record for people who thought 22 a million was radically experimental...
