SowingSeason, I don't know how often you get this but I love your avatar (despite never having listened to any of Grande's songs)

Apparently the singer is in love with a working girl. Just figured I'd let you guys know that.

I've never heard anything besides "Drops of Jupiter" and I do like that song haha. From the reviews it sounds like they are a pretty shitty band overall. Are they still on a major label?

Columbia Records is their label

their vocalist is 47 wtf

Patt's a really good singer tbh. Too bad he writes terrible songs these days
|

Album art is kinda cool i guess. Only thing I've really listened to by these guys is Drops of Jupiter back in middle school.
|
| |
the colors and idea of the album art is really good but it still kinda manages to be an eyesore
|
| |
also I know this is like three albums ago but 50 ways to say goodbye is kind of great
like it's so unafraid of being terrible that it actually kinda works

The only two tracks they left off this are both good by the way. Crazy Queen in particular is lit.
They literally don't know a good song when they write one.

"I... possess the innate ability to pinpoint exactly why an artist made the decisions that they did and to whom those choices may appeal."
I'm not sure how this could possibly be accurate. Do you follow up with the artist and confirm that your preconceived notions were correct?
Good review. Garbage band.

You're taking what I'm saying way too literally haha. But thanks!
Also I really do recommend checking out Crazy Queen. For as bad as this album is that track is a really cool classic rock throwback.

I mean if you were being facetious or self-deprecating or anything but sincere it doesn't really come off that way, at least not to me.
I just don't think that such absolutes should be used when analyzing someone else's art. You may have total conviction in your opinion of their intention, but in reality it's always more muddled than that. An example:
A long time ago when I was like 18, I met and had a brief conversation with Lawrence Arms guitarist/vocalist Chris McCaughan, who was counted among my heroes at the time. I geeked the fuck out. An an effort to assert my fanboy cred, I talked about how I loved one of TLA's more obscure songs from their early years and how the lyrics had affected me and gave my interpretation of what it was about. He very politely blinked at me and said, "yeah, that's not what that song's about at all." He then proceeded to explain what it was about.
Now this might just be an example of me being a fucking idiot, but my point is that just because you interpret a piece of art in one way doesn't mean your notion of what they were attempting is wholly accurate. It doesn't, however, make you "wrong" per se for finding meaning in something that the artist didn't intend.
Just my unsolicited and long-winded opinion. No offense meant.
Edit: I wrote the brunt of this as addendum to my first comment before you responded.

Lol no offense taken; I just don't think I put as much thought into anything at all in this review as you just did. Perhaps a better way for me to state it would have been that I find ways to enjoy pop and find meaning in it that others can't.

I agree, he is an excellent vocalist
that has nothing to do with writing good songs though

Not that it really matters but the album title should all be lower case
