I've been rooting back to Scorpions lately. They are entry level band nowadays and typically we move away from them after a while, but god, do they have good music.

I've never viewed early scorpions as an "entry level band", because their sound is far from what the average rocker would expect to hear. Their 70's sound is far more intricate, mystical and selective. It's certainly NOT for the masses. And that's why they made their music more straightforward, because they wanted to make music for the masses. However, as myth said, every era has great songs.

Their 80s stuff is pretty "entry level". They were one of the first bands I jammed when I was really getting into music, but their early stuff is much more experimental.
Also how good is Catch Your Train?

It's the stuff guitar legends are made of, Run.
Also, agreed guys. Early Scorps is more experimental and interesting for me, compared to their post-Taken by Force material which definitely has its merits.

I once tried to learn the solos from "Catch your train". Failed miserably. The songs are much harder than what you expect.
"Early Scorps is more experimental"
Agreed, even their debut (without Uli) is probably the most experimental of their whole career.

Indeed. Dieter Dierks even though has to be the most legendary Kraut producer (at least I think haha), pushed them towards a more hard rock sound rather than a Kraut one from In Trance onward which worked in favor of the band ofc.

I didn't know that. I have always believed that the whole Krautrock thing was rooted in the band's lost sense of direction.

amen.

Yeah i remember reading it before, really well put.

Of course this needed a review and you did it well. Early Scorpions is one of the most influential bands to build heavy metal as a style. And Uli Roth is an outstanding guitar player. pos'd

The guitar solos on crying days and polar nights are out of this world. The feel that uli puts is just overwhelming. With every bend, he squeezes every last ounce of emotion out of the intrument.

Spot on description, John. Uli is a legend and he still plays at a really high level.
