Been meaning to check the Agnes Obel, I hear it's good stuff.
Doof the new Lucinda is pretty different than Car Wheels, this one's her second sprawling double album in a row. Longer song lengths, darker - still quality stuff though!
Probably the biggest album from 2016 I'm missing is Blackstar - told myself I'd dig through Bowie's back catalogue first but I made it through 3 albums then got distracted. I'll just have to give in and try Blackstar so I can appropriately place it in my ranking.

3 albums and then distracted. You Harvard lot have the attention spans of goldfish.

:-P
zak I'm infamously lazy about checking full discogs, usually I tell myself I'm going to commit but then I always try another artist and then one thing leads to another and it's 8 months later and I'm kicking myself for forgetting to check more Bowie albums.

I'm exactly the same bro. Even some of my all time fave artists I haven't checked their entire discog. There's too much stuff too little time.

Every now and then I have a mini crisis when I realize just how much great stuff there is out there, and know I won't get to most of it for years and years - if ever. Hopefully I never lose the passion.

I've found my passion expands over time. My soul is invested in music. I'm probably schiz or summink.

Toad I think it is - the only note of caution I'd raise is The Hustle is the best tune and the vocal style is different on that one to the rest of the album.
I'm pleased I rated this a 4.5 though, growing on me a lot. Amazed the Metacritic score is staying so high too, thought this would be a love or hate deal among the critics

@ TheBoneyKing: If you listen to the whole Bowie discog at once you'll quickly find out which albums you like best, but if you listen to them slower you'll find out what you really like about each album. And there is something to like about most of them. I think you're on the right track.
--Meanwhile, after a few listens, this Lambchop is an easy 4 for me.

Baring the critical reception in mind I'm a little disappointed this review didn't get bumped to the main page here - I mean Pitchfork had it as their main review today so it's hardly that cult/niche

Glad you're enjoying this Twig - how'd you rate it compared to 'Is a Woman'?

I thought all new-release contributor reviews, that weren't covered by staff, got bumped to the front page--but I guess I was wrong about that.

Is this one the donner?
Twig - not when a contributor has my taste lol, I think out of about 20 new release reviews I've written this year only Shearwater, Tindersticks, Richmond Fontaine, Megadeth, Radiohead (briefly), Animal Collective and Wild Beasts got main page billing.
Just doin' it for my regulars :D

I like Nixon and Is a woman better, 4.5 - 5, but this is really interesting too @ 4.
edit: I'm hooked on The Hustle.
