Seriously a 5? Word is by everyone who has listened to it is that it is disappointing as all heck. I doubt it even comes CLOSE to southern air but we will see.

These guys never disappointed me, but now I'm more hyped than ever.

Not expecting everyone to think this is a 5 but I could see lots of longtime fans rating it that highly or close
I mean objectively in terms of instrumentation and stuff no YC album is really a 5.

Thanks. If you're thinking about just now getting into the band (I see you have no ratings for them) I might recommend starting elsewhere seeing as a good bit of the appeal here is sentimental/lyrical/thematic. Ocean Avenue, Southern Air are both good choices or One for the Kids if you want to go way back to the band's beginnings (I count this as their beginning because the albums preceding it were underdeveloped attempts at punk and the current vocalist wasn't in the band).

i'd say when your through thinking is the best starting point, but sowing knows his YC more than me

Still haven't checked WYTTSY and Paper Walls. Ironically, my favorite album might as well be Lights & Sounds. Or Southern Air maybe.

I'll start at Ocean Avenue, which also happens to be the only song I think I've ever heard by them and knew it was them. I like the song Ocean Avenue, so hopefully that means I'll like the album itself

WYTTSY and paper walls are something you should def check if you already like this band crawl
Ocean Avenue is a pretty good starting point too. If you like the song, you'll probably like the album yeah

Thanks for the write-up, Sowing. I was actually wondering on what you would think about this while I've been listening through it. Happy to see it's positive. I need to listen to it more, but as of now for me it stands as one of their strongest albums and a fantastic swan song to cap off their career.

Totally agree. They could not have chosen a better way to end things.

Come on man, this isn't actually a 5 is it? I have 3 of their albums rated 4.5 but I doubt it's even 4.5 worthy

Just gonna quote myself from earlier in the thread:

I mean objectively in terms of instrumentation and stuff no YC album is really a 5."

Just thought I should finally get into this guys to maybe catch them on their final tour, but unfortunately no venue close to me, so whatever. Still gonna check this out one day.
