Yeah Aaron was surprisingly pretty awful... I was expecting that from Austin's cleans, but I didn't even feel like Aaron had much passion at any particular point. I mean, when all you have to work with are hooks like "It's taking over me/I don't know what to believe/Forgetting everything/That makes me, makes me real", I'd be bored as shit too tbh.

The little Tool-lite thing Aaron tried to do at the beginning of "The Hunger" actually made me laugh at loud at how blatant and painfully bland it was.

It was awful to me, and easily earns worst album of the year for me. They did literally nothing new, I feel like I was listening to a cover album of early 2000s Three Days Grace who does this sound 10x better

I'm going to review this.
Massively overhated album.

You know, it might be getting a lot of hate because it's simply a bad record. Just my thoughts though

lol probably

I seriously don't get what audience they're aiming for by making an album like this... nu metal peaked more than 10 years ago, and was done a lot better when it did. There's like zero chance they become the "new Linkin Park" in terms of popularity or lasting relevance from a record this mediocre.

The hate is probably justified

Album would be a 2.8-3.2/5 average rating on Sputnik if OMAM's name weren't attached.
Y'all usually aren't this hyper critical of nu-metal.

Doesn't matter, I enjoy the album.
Therefore, other people out there have the capacity to enjoy it.

Maybe, if they conform to the lowest common denominator
Also, 3 people 5'd this but they look like troll accounts since they all 5'd ADTR's new album. That or they really have bad taste

The 5's are probably troll accounts so as it stands I have this rated the highest out of anyone on the site.
"If they conform to the lowest common denominator."
If this was released in 2001, all of you would currently have this 5'd in the same way people have LP's Hybrid Theory 5'd.
Honestly one of the most fun recordings I've heard all year, and the guitar tone is gorgeous.

No wonder you hate this then lol, you came to a band that plays a genre that you hate, and expected yourself to not hate the album.

I'm pretty sure that would apply to most albums. But the fact that it's been done over and over again loses any form of originality and/or creativity. Albeit, I still don't find it enjoyable.
That asnide, glad you enjoy the album. : )

You sneaky one you. Thanks fam.
I don't think it would apply to most albums, I think it would apply to any album that could have been perceived as having that "spark" that ignited the flames of nu-metal, and to me, this is an album that could have fit that role back in the day.
